Chicago may not be Portland, Oregon, when it comes to stellar bike trails but we do have a pretty sweet lakefront trail. When I was assigned to write an article for USA Today Travel’s 10best on where to ride a bicycle if one only had half a day in Chicago, it was pretty obvious Chicago’s Lakefront Trail would be the best option. Most of the readers are looking for things to do as a visitor, whether they’re coming on a family vacation or business, so heading to the Cook County Forest Preserves, although not far for locals, isn’t exactly convenient for those visiting (and sans car) or on a time constraint.
Chicago’s Lakefront Trail offers another bonus for those visiting ~ it can be family-friendly, romantic, meditative or provide a work-out. It’s one of those rare attractions that really can appeal to anyone and IT’S FREE and easily accessible.
It was fun to write this piece. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it.
