Most of us living in the Midwest know of Midwest Living magazine. As someone who lives in Chicago, I’ve read this magazine on and off for decades because it features many travel, food and home design features that I really enjoyed reading. The latest issue of Midwest Living magazine, currently on newsstands, holds a special place in my heart because it also features my first byline.
I had pitched the editor of the travel section a piece on Chicago’s latest attraction: TILT. Unfortunately she had already assigned that piece but we discussed other options, including one on dining near the John Hancock Building where TILT is based, 94 stories high above the ground.
Opting to show visitors (and locals who don’t often trek to the Magnificent Mile) restaurants that are unique to Chicago, I suggested three that I have visited, absolutely loved and have recommended to visitors who have hit me up for suggestions on where to dine (and all have told me the meals were delicious and the atmosphere fun and memorable).
The results are in the article and I’m thrilled that I had the opportunity to contribute a piece to a magazine I have enjoyed reading for so many years. I hope readers will enjoy the issue and will check out one of the restaurants I’ve suggested.
